Using a combination of HAAS milling machines and CNC lathe, which were able to hold tolerances as low as (±) .005 of an inch, C&P Plastics built a UHMW component used within a biopsy machine. To begin this process, we first turned all profiles and drilled and bored all ID's. We then used our milling machinery to mill all flats and drill any holes. Constructed from white ultra high molecular weight polyethylene, the component measured precisely 10.041 inches in length and 1.5 inches in outer diameter. The biopsy component also weighed 3.4 lbs.
After manufacturing was complete, we then inspected the part for any flaws, using a combination of height and pin gauges and calipers. Designed for the medical industry, C&P Plastics successfully manufactured a biopsy machine component used within a lifesaving device. Meeting our client's precise specifications, we delivered the completed component to our buyer's facility in Houston, Texas.
